Winners of the Plan Your Own Hawaiian Vacation Contest

I’ve gone through the list, and checked it twice. The winners of the Hawaii guidebooks are Michael and Ed Ip.

Michael commented on the first installment of my trip report where I laid out the plan. His question:

I would love to see more info on hip-hopping around the various islands. What’s the best way to do it? Other options? Thanks!

That’s a great question! Most people go to one island, or sometimes two (especially if they are coming from far away and need to connect in Honolulu). I’ve never tried this myself–always been a one-island-per-trip guy–but I’ll look into it further. For now, let me suggest that there is a cruise line that will take you out to Hawaii and stop at several of the islands. Personally I think a cruise would ruin the opportunity to relax on the beach at sunset and so on, but for those who like cruising, the option is out there.

Ed Ip (@EdIpPhotography) tweeted to ask about other restaurant suggestions on Maui after reading my post on Lahaina. His question:

Post on Lahaina is great! Heading to Maui 4 the 2nd time later this year n always looking for good eats.

It’s true I didn’t go into this nearly as much as I originally thought, but we did eat well and took pictures of most of the food. I’ve been ignoring my High Life series lately and will try to get back to it soon with a review of the places we ate and–most importantly–the best mai tais on the island!

Thanks again for participating! I’ll be contacting the winners soon to ask them which editions they’re interested in so I can have Amazon mail them out ASAP.
