Lots of blog posts today, but this should just about wrap things up. I’ve got some time on the fancy microscope tonight, so I’ll be hard at work. But not you! Make sure you check out some of the deals if you didn’t already.
Thanks to Gary at View from the Wing, I now have a use for the 60,000 Priority Club points I purchased for $460 (as part of a 50% bonus promotion) in my bid to earn a Hyatt Gold Passport Diamond trial. I knew I wanted to go to the Venetian hotel this summer–I love Vegas in the summer–but 50K points per night wasn’t the best deal. For today only, until 9 PM PDT, you can book a room at The Venetian or The Palazzo for only 25K points per night. There are select dates, but I was able to snag two weekend nights in August after I defend my thesis. So for about $383 I got a room currently retailing for $535 including taxes. Loyalty Traveler also chimes in with his cash vs. points evaluation.
Or maybe I could have just paid for the rooms and gotten a $75 credit back through Priority Club’s new summer promotion, courtesy of New Girl in the Air. It’s not that exciting, but you can get a $75 credit for a two-night weekend stay booked through September 3. There is also a separate promotion for a $50 credit through August 2.
Points, Miles, & Martinis shares that Delta is offering triple miles (150 each way or 300 roundtrip) for SuperShuttle through July 20. However, restrictions are tough and you can only use this deal at Orlando (MCO), Paris Charles De Gaulle (CDG) or Paris Orly (ORY).
Deals We Like shares a nationwide sale on Gilt City for Zipcar membership, including driving credits. Your application and first year’s membership fee are waived. You can choose to spend either $30 and get a $30 driving credit or $100 and get a $150 driving credit. Now if only I lived in a neighborhood in Seattle within decent reach of a Zipcar. But I love Ned (Megan insists that all cars have to be named, and my Civic reminds her of Ned Flanders ).
Remember to follow Loyalty Traveler on Twitter as he begins his 25,000-point SPG American Express sweepstakes. Multiple entries are permitted within the rules.
Travelocity is offering $25 off a hotel reservation if you “like” their Facebook page. Or not. The rules specifically say not to share the code online, so I will be nice and follow their rules, but I’ll also link to the FlyerTalk page where you can find the code freely available. Travel must be through the end of this year.
Frugal Travel Guy is giving away a year’s premium subscription to ExpertFlyer, which I know many of you know and love. I certainly do. Just submit the best travel deal by midnight EDT. Also courtesy of FTG, get $15 off a Virgin America flight flown by June 13 through an AmazonLocal deal.
Finally, Loyalty Traveler also shares that Club Carlson, about which I blogged in yesterday’s summary, actually has multiple promotions coming up that could be stackable. Does 138,000 points sound good to you? Again, I’ll have to see if I actually find a Club Carlson hotel worth staying at with no viable Priority Club or Hyatt options nearby, but that might not be too hard if I take a road trip. I probably won’t keep the points, but they can be turned into a few thousand airline miles.
