Head in the Clouds #6

I haven’t done one of these in a while. As I said before, I enjoy window seats, even on relatively boring flights, because they give me an opportunity to see things from a different perspective.

Guess the view outside this airplane window, and I’ll send a $5 Starbucks gift card tot he first person to get it right. Make sure to include your email address so I have some way to contact you and deliver the prize. (Don’t put the email address in the comment field. When you type your name, a box will open up below to let you add your email address so only I can see it.) If you’d like to submit your own photos, send me an email.

Lake tahoe – looking north west.

Tahoe is correct but looking south west.Toward Emerald Bay and Cascade Lake. But Scott is the winner.

    lake tahoe

  • Scottrick

James is correct, it’s Emerald Bay at Lake Tahoe and the adjacent Cascade Lake. But we won’t quibble about direction. As long as James is okay with it, I’ll contact Scott about his prize. Thanks for playing! Feel free to send me your own (more challenging) in-flight photos before next Sunday.

As soon as I posted I realized it was looking more west rather than north west… from the camera’s perspective anyway. I believe Emerald Bay points south west, and that is South Tahoe on the left, which means theoretically we’d be looking west. HOWEVER… if you factor in magnetic north, and consider the density altitude at the estimated time the photo was taken, and then you subtract the payload of the burned fuel (at 6 pounds per gallon) of the airplane from which the photo was taken, and then divide by the square root of pi… it’s definitely looking slightly north of west. ;)
