Please Excuse My Dust

I’ve been grumbling a while about my blog’s theme. The old one was nice, but it was definitely too “liney.” Yes, I use that term at the risk of being burned alive by Matthew Inman. So I took the plunge, switched themes, and for the most part everything looks intact. I even learned how to write my own custom CSS to modify a child theme! (I’m a scientist. I’m used to pretending I know what I’m talking about.)

Content is still king, and I will be working on that as I check things off my to-do list and find more time in each day to devote to this blog. But hopefully you find this to be one small improvement among many in the coming weeks. Later today I’ll be updating the credit card application links (I have 55 of them) so that they’re easier to update as the offers change–not just to update the main credit card pages but on every page, including posts three months old. Computers are frickin’ awesome sometimes. If anything about the site is broken, please tell me, but for now my goal is to get everything as I like it by the end of this long holiday weekend. If you have special requests, now is the time to make them known.

Expect a few new posts, but I’ll leave most of the writing for next week.

Still not sure if I like the old one better or not. Maybe I miss that header graphic?

There will be a new logo soon enough. I just tried fixing that and it totally screwed up the site. So fortunately I’m visiting my dad this weekend and he can help.

Looking nice, can you tell us which theme are you using?

    • Scottrick

It’s the eleven40 child theme on top of the Genesis framework.

I love it! How did you move the logo above the nav bar, add the social buttons at the top and turn the nav bar white? That’s exactly what I want to do with my new site and I’m stumbling around like an idiot!
