Awesome Vintage Airline T-Shirts

@AwardWallet shared a link to a cool eBay store that sells vintage  airline T-shirts. Nothing fancy, but for those of you who want to show some frequent flyer pride, there are dozens of different airline logos on shirts and sweatshirts at pretty reasonable prices. Big surprise: No United Airlines! I was hoping for a tulip shirt, but even the new logo is absent.

So instead I looked for IranAir and was better rewarded. I think their logo looks an awful lot like Lufthansa’s. Coincidence? Maybe, maybe not. But it was still cool to see one of their planes when I took my first trip to the Middle East a few months ago. :D

Do you mean similar to Air France (not Lufthansa)?

    • Scottrick

No, I still think the fair comparison is Lufthansa. Air France has all caps letters in a wide font I don’t recognize, and their logo is an abstract ribbon that does little more than symbolize upward motion. In contrast, both Iran Air and Lufthansa use a mix of upper and lower case in Helvetica and have logos that are stylized birds.

I was talking about the bird, not the font. AF uses a similar bird.

I also think that the logo has a greater resemblance with with the original AF sea horse one than LH.

Fair enough. I was focusing on the font. I shouldn’t have used “logo” so broadly.

The IranAir shirt is a bit off with the blue…..I wish they picked a white shirt with the dark blue logo….thats their colors I think……not royal blue.
