The Blog’s Back Up!

Sorry about the downtime earlier today. Unfortunately it coincided with the launch of a little contest I’m running, so be sure to check out that page if you had trouble accessing it earlier.

As some of you know, I’m self-hosted but still use BoardingArea for distribution and publicity. This arrangement has been working great after a few initial hiccups, since I stay up even if BoardingArea goes down (all the bloggers hate this, even me, but they are working on it so don’t worry). I use GoDaddy, which was taken down by a member of Anonymous today. So, even I have my uptime problems. Hopefully this is just an isolated incident and won’t repeat in the near future.

All our sites were down as well…I think I found a good reason to use OpenDNS as they cache entries when the authoritative server seems to be offline. Google purges based on the RFC…perhaps the RFC needs to take anonymous into account…Sorry for the geek talk!

No problem. I’ll have to talk to you at some point about how I can make this blog more robust. It’s pretty much a random collection of code I learned in a weekend. ;)

I am not certain how much help I can be…but am happy to offer what help I can…I think the answer is bring money honestly. I always try to get off as cheaply as possible…at some point I am going to have to my my wife’s blog to a more robust server. :-)
