Alaska Airlines Boeing 787 Giveaway

Yes, you read that right! I have managed to tie together some of my Boeing and Alaska swag for yet another contest. One of my readers, @Kofucious, works at Boeing and recently gave me some awesome 787 swag to give away. Actually, not that recently. I got it in August and then promptly lost the bag when Megan rearranged all the furniture in our apartment, which she tends to do when I disappear on my mileage runs. But I digress.

I have for one lucky winner a 787 Dreamliner baseball cap, a key chain, and a baggage tag from the Boeing gift shop not far away. They will make a nice addition to the travel experience for any of you with an upcoming flight on one of the new 787s, especially now that United is beginning to roll out domestic flights this fall and international flights early next year.

But that’s not all! @Kofucious and I talked for a bit, and he wondered why I never write anything about Alaska Airlines. I included it in my elite status comparisons last week, pointing out how it really does offer some amazing benefits. It’s also a good place to park orphan miles since they partner with several different airlines. Like many things in Seattle, it enjoys a lot of hometown loyalty. So I’ve decided to throw in this AMAZING inflatable Alaska Airlines hat! For some reason my dad didn’t want it and gave it to me. Here you can witness its stylish awesomeness. Yes, I have pointy elf ears.

Let’s show @Kofucious that I take his request seriously.

    Since the retirement of its MD-80s in 2008, Alaska Airlines has been operating a fleet consisting of only Boeing 737s

    I guess you already know this, but… they are always status matching to their MVP G: get your status matched after November 1st to have your status last from 2013 to end of 2014, among with all the perks of flying Alaska as MVPG (as you covered earlier). Both LAX and SEA are also their “airports of the future” full of new self-serve technologies (though all of which is pretty common elsewhere in the world), and while elites still get assisted to serve, the new check-in areas at these airports are pretty nice!

    They fly a 737-900 painted in a Disneyland theme. I’ve flown it, and can’t help picturing the irony of that plane crashing. Jet fuel flames as Mickey’s face melts away….. Kids would be scarred for life!

    So, that’s where my amazing inflatable hat disappeared to. It ws actually reconnoitered from the Alaska Airlines booth at the Wings Over Wine Country air show at Charles M. Schulz – Sonoma County Airport, Santa Rosa, CA on August 18-19, 2012 by your dad’s girlfiend.

    You can upgrade to First Class last minute for as little as $50.

    If you’re flying out of Seattle, they have many codeshares with airlines in other alliances such as Korean Air where you can get mileage credited to either mileage program.

    Earlier this year they invited some customers on a 737 delivery flight (Everett to Seattle). It was an awesome trip!

    The Seattle-Austin round trip used to be a favorite with the long-time flight attendants as it was a same-day turn-around. But no more. And, the Austin flights seem so crowded.
