The weather is still beautiful here in Seattle. I hear it’s snowing in North Dakota and Minnesota, but you know what, I like snow. Maybe we’ll get some of that here soon. My neighborhood is pretty sweet when the snow closes down the roads and all the kids come out to play. In the meantime, here are some deals and sales to look into as you relax this weekend.
Win 65,000 Hyatt Gold Passport points – Mommy Points
Mommy Points is a judge for a new Hyatt Facebook competition. This one involves some skill, so get your friends and family to vote for your dream vacation, then send a bribe to Mommy Points (send it to me and I’ll deliver it, I promise…) to secure your chances.
Up to 10,000 bonus on purchased AA miles – One Mile at a Time
Lucky says you can get tiered bonus miles on top of purchased AA miles through the end of October. The largest bonus, 10,000 miles, is provided when you purchase between 36,000 and 40,000 miles. The best deal is at the margin, so buying 36,000 miles for $1094.25 (including taxes) and getting 10,000 bonus miles is a final cost of 2.38 CPM. Not terribly exciting, but a fair price.
500 Hilton HHonors points for linking to Facebook and TopGuest – New Girl in the Air
There have been a few 500 point promotions lately, and I’m getting confused. But New Girl points out yet another way to earn 500 Hilton HHonors points from DoubleTree by linking your Facebook account to Top Guest. Obviously, certain individuals who have been banned from TopGuest are ineligible. [Limited to the first 40,000 participants.]
1,000 United MileagePlus miles for downloading shopping toolbar – New Girl in the Air
These promotions come and go all the time. If you don’t already have it, download the United MileagePlus Shopping toolbar for some easy miles. You don’t have to use it more than once, and uninstalling these things can be a pain. New Girl thought she could install it just on a dummy browser she doesn’t use (smart idea) but be careful because in her case it installed on every browser.
250 Delta MQM for each 2-night stay with Hilton – Loyalty Traveler
Valid now through December 15, Ric tells us there’s an easy way to get some of those elite qualifying miles you need to reach the next level with Delta. And don’t forget, Delta offers rollover elite miles, so any you don’t use this year will count toward status next year.
New Hilton fall promotion for 1,000 points per night – The Points Guy
TPG fills us in on the new Hilton HHonors fall promotion from November 1 through December 31. Earn 1,000 HHonors points for every night Thursday through Monday. That means no points for Tuesday or Wednesday nights. Why? Because that’s when business travelers keep hotels full. Hilton is trying to increase bookings on weekends, not steal customers. Given that Hilton points aren’t worth much (~0.6 cents) this is a roughly $6 rebate per night and nothing to get excited about.
1,200 Southwest Rapid Rewards points per stay with Choice – Loyalty Lobby
Worth as much as $20, John shares this new offer from Choice Hotels (think Comfort Inn, Quality Inn & Suites, etc.) between October 1 and November 15. This is double the usual 600 points. These can be pretty cheap hotels, though I don’t think you’re going to be able to find one under $20 and come out ahead. Still, they are sometimes the only option available on road trips.
35% off at W Hotel Store – Points, Miles, & Martinis
Those of who you stay at W Hotels regularly may be a fan of their proprietary W Bed. Through October 15, get 35% off all purchases at their online store, and you can have a W Bed even when you’re not on the road.
More info on getting a status match with Turkish Airlines – View from the Wing
Gary previously talked about how easy it was to get free status for two years with Turkish Airlines (useful for getting Star Gold status with a foreign carrier, for access to domestic United and US Airways lounges on wholly domestic trips). Apparently it’s even easier than he thought to get a match from lots of other airline programs, including United, Delta, and American.
