I don’t normally read the magazines at the United Club. Often they’re just disguised advertisements, like International Watch Weekly. I have no idea why everyone tries to sell watches at the airport. But I was flipping through Business Traveler thanks to an interesting cover story on Guangzhou and came across a charity auction that is running through November.
Several of the prizes are pretty good, and the current bids undervalue them significantly. Of course, there’s still 60 days left in the auction. But considering how hard it was to find this auction on their own website after following the directions in the article, my guess is this will not see the same competition as something on eBay. A lot of items haven’t seen any bids in the last ten days or more.
For example, two business class seats on Singapore Airlines are currently going for only $2,100. They’re restricted to flights from a US gateway to Europe or North Asia. But still, roundtrip from Houston to Moscow would normally cost about $7,000 each.
Other items for auction include two seats in economy class on Etihad, a business class ticket with American Airlines, a two-night stay at any Kimpton hotel, and some cheaper options like airport transfers and smartphones. Get the complete list here. And feel free to enter for those SQ tickets on my behalf
