Welcome, Amol!

Amol, also known as amolkold on FlyerTalk, is the guy behind travel blog Points to Point B. I’ve invited him to contribute to Hack My Trip on a trial basis, and he may very well end up joining full-time. I’ve been very impressed with the detail and analysis he puts into his posts on Points to Point B, and I guess it shouldn’t surprise me that we both have educational backgrounds in biomedical science.

Points to Point B is primarily focused on earning and redeeming miles and points, something that I don’t normally cover on this blog. I am more interested in paying for my travel to earn elite status, and the miles are really just an afterthought to justify the expense. Amol is also a Delta flyer, while I am solidly United. There seem to be a lot of other complementary skills and interests here that I hope will provide you, the readers, with more interesting and regular content. Look for his first post later this morning on the new card and app from Wallaby, a company that aims to help you use the best rewards card for every purchase. You can also head over to Points to Point B to learn more about what he’s written in the past.

And don’t forget, Amol was also the creative force behind this hilarious video about the demise of Vanilla Reload cards at Office Depot. Hopefully a good sign of things to come!

Scott created Hack My Trip after learning how to travel better on a budget during grad school. He now flies over 150,000 miles every year.

Re: “Amol was also the creative force behind this hilarious video about the demise of Vanilla Reload cards at Office Depot”. To be fair, he Hitler downfall parodies been done many times. All you need to do is enter a few captions and hit submit.

Actually, it’s not much different from what many bloggers do. :)

Per wikipedia “By 2010, there were thousands of such parodies, including many in which a self-aware Hitler is incensed that people keep making Downfall parodies”.

Maybe not all of it is original, but I think a big part of making those parodies work is finding the right words and the right timing. Amol’s is one of the better ones. Others are just people’s random rants while Hitler yells in the background.
