Seattle Meetup on March 17 (For Real!)

I’ve been wanting to hold an event for local readers. Now that Ben from One Mile at a Time is settled in, it’s a good opportunity.

Plan to meet at Quinn’s Pub in Capitol Hill on March 17 for drinks and eats at 6:30 PM. Please RSVP in the comments with the number of guests. Quinn’s normally doesn’t take reservations but has agreed to set aside tables if we show up before the dinner rush. They might give away your seat to other customers if you don’t show. Please be on-time. I’ll arrive at 6 PM and wait at the bar.

Quinns

The setting is pretty casual. If we take over the entire restaurant I’ll look into organizing something more formal in the future. And yes, we’ll mix it up between Seattle and Bellevue. I’ve only met a few locals in the area, so I hope a few more show up to match faces with screen names.

So sorry about the confusion yesterday. I hit “Publish” instead of “Save Draft,” and then someone told me it was St. Patrick’s Day. But you know what? Finding dates everyone can agree on is tough, and I don’t think this is the kind of place that will attract an especially rowdy St. Patrick’s Day crowd, especially on a Sunday. We’ll give it a go.

There will be more events in the future, maybe even something over multiple days when it’s nice in the summer. Don’t feel you have to fly in or make special arrangements if this date doesn’t work for you.

How about for non-local readers if SEA is mileage run material over the 17th? ;-)

Hopefully you do end up doing another of these as I don’t think I can make this date. I’m very new to the points/travel-hacking game and also live in Seattle so I was hoping to meet some local people and get tips relevant to our area.

  • bradR

doubtful i can swing it. also – quinns is nominally a type of irish bar (the name, the food, the whiskey) so st pats may actually be very busy. it’s not a crazy place, by nature, but i’d expect it to be busy.

    • Scottrick

Yeah. The location is not fixed and other options are being considered. The group is bigger than I expected, so probably necessary anyway.

  • dfpoints

    I’ll be there

  • Scottrick

I’m looking into new options for more people/fewer crowds since this appears to be more popular than I expected. I’ll confirm later, but the Hi-Life in Ballard may be an option.

    I will be there with a +1
